Ryan Bancroft leads Pulitzer-winner Caroline Shaw’s enthralling Entr'acte as well as the many moods of Edward Elgar’s musical puzzle. Enigma Variations transforms its central theme into a personality sketch of Elgar’s friends, ranging from playful or eccentric to majestic and noble in the beloved “Nimrod.” Pianist Eric Lu emerged on an international stage after earning top prize at the Leeds Competition. Lu performs with “the utmost poetry and sensitivity” (Gramophone), and he joins the orchestra for Beethoven’s dramatic Piano Concerto No. 4.
Please note: Due to illness, pianist Hélène Grimaud will not perform Mozart Piano Concerto No. 20 as originally scheduled. Eric Lu will instead perform Beethoven.
