About King James

"King" LeBron James was just the hero that Cleveland needed. One of the greatest NBA players to ever hit the court, his influence on the whole city loomed large for the dozen years of his reign. Pulitzer Prize finalist Rajiv Joseph’s (Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo) wonderfully funny and remarkably moving new play chronicles the unexpected friendship between two men whose intertwined fortunes are tied to those of their idol. This highly anticipated, adrenaline-packed New York premiere about the power of connection is directed by Tony Award winner Kenny Leon (A Raisin in the Sun, Fences).

Must see, Great writing, Great staging, Great acting, Absorbing

See it if This play should be Broadway bound given the excellent acting, directing & script. Friendship can survive societal norms no matter the cost

Don’t see it if I have no negative comments. This is a must see.

Great writing, Great acting, Entertaining

See it if you are looking for play that ultimately ends up being surprisingly heartwarming. A common interest can strongly bond a friendship.

Don’t see it if you have absolutely no interest in sports and male friendships

Absorbing, Slow burn, Great writing, Great staging, Great acting

See it if I’m not NBA fan at all, but was intrigued by the friendship on stage; 2 actors, esp. Chris Perfetti, are stars! The SET!! And the ending!!

Don’t see it if 1st phase of their relationship is full of NBA jargons, and I fell asleep for seconds. But it only gets better. Unavoidable race tension.

Resonant, Thought-provoking, Great acting, Absorbing, Great writing

See it if You like character driven plays. This is some great writing delivered by two great actors-telling a dear story about friendships ups/downs.

Don’t see it if You need a lot of action. This is all about the power of the two egos on stage and how they change each other’s lives. Funny/sad/honest.
