About Sorry For Your Loss

Like all the world's most insightful theatrical works, it began with a tweet.

On the tenth anniversary of a profound loss, comedian Michael Cruz Kayne felt compelled to describe his feelings of grief in 140 characters or less. Much to his surprise, more than 140,000 messages of support came back to him from all corners of the globe. Overwhelmed by the response, the Late Show with Stephen Colbert writer and host of "A Good Cry" created "Sorry for Your Loss," a sidesplitting, heartrending look at life — and death. This powerfully personal world premiere cuts through the platitudes, directly reaching out to anyone who has ever experienced loss — or will. So... everyone.

Thought-provoking, Surprising, Entertaining, Had some ugly cry, Standup magician

See it if I didn’t know the dude, but became his fan. Master standup comedian with heartfelt autobiographical stories to share. Walk out less lonely.

Don’t see it if It’s not a theatrical production. No plot, no dance, some goofy singing tho. 75min only. Somewhat poetic, super healing 🫶🏼

Thought-provoking, Great acting, Great staging, Great writing, Intelligent

See it if you want to spend 90 minutes looking at things differently as one performer shares thoughts on grief and laughter from his own experience.

Don’t see it if hearing very frank stories about loss of a young loved one and dealing with grief would be triggers for you.

See it if Powerful & moving performance on grief & loss with thoughtful messaging. Throughout show, the audience experienced laughter & sadness.

Don’t see it if I have no negative comments about the moving show. However, if you prefer a lighter topic, skip this one.

Don’t see it if You don't like to mix humor with grief, although Michael's approach could be healing for some.
