About Breathless

What happens when the things we covet hide us from ourselves?

Opening up to new experiences in her late-thirties, Sophie is exploring long repressed sides of herself. When a secret she’s keeping from those she loves, and even from herself, threatens to unravel it all, she must make a choice. Who or what will she decide to give up?

Breathless is a funny, honest, and stylish exploration of the knife-edge of hoarding, from the joy to the addiction and suffocating shame.

Great acting, Intense, Moving, Vulnerable, Intimate

See it if Tender solo show about a woman with a clothes hoarding obsession. Starts slow but gets intense. Good acting. I cared about her.

Don’t see it if Also includes the development of a lesbian relationship. This seemed like the focus at first, but the emphasis shifted and got darker.

Worthwhile, Moving, Stark, Quirky, Relevant

See it if you're unfamiliar with Brits on Broadway, 59E59's well-curated series. This show segues slyly from Bi- coming out tale to hoarding exposé.

Don’t see it if you take offense at critiques of hoarding culture. Laura Horton's script -- & Madeleine MacMahon's performance -- provide a final gut punch.

Resonant, Thought-provoking, Great acting, Entertaining, Absorbing

See it if you like intimate shows that are not trite about people with real problems. This case hoarding and over shopping.

Don’t see it if you think any show with a woman with an addiction to shopping is shallow. This show explores the complexity of this problem.
