About Appropriate on Broadway at the Hayes

Pulitzer Prize finalist and Obie Award winner Branden Jacobs-Jenkins and Drama Desk Award winner Lila Neugebauer invite you to one helluva reunion in this darkly comic American family drama. With Sarah Paulson, Elle Fanning, Corey Stoll, Natalie Gold, Alyssa Emily Marvin, Graham Campbell, Michael Esper, Lincoln Cohen, and Everett Sobers.

It’s summer, the cicadas are singing, and the Lafayette family has returned to their late patriarch’s Arkansas home to deal with the remains of his estate. Toni (Sarah Paulson), the eldest daughter, hopes they’ll spend the weekend remembering and reconnecting over their beloved father. Bo, her brother, wants to recoup some of the funds he spent caring for Dad at the end of his life. But things take a turn when their estranged brother, Franz, appears late one night, and mysterious objects are discovered among the clutter. Suddenly, long-hidden secrets and buried resentments can’t be contained, and the family is forced to face the ghosts of their past.

Intense, Thought-provoking, Riveting, Great acting, Great writing

See it if you want a story with a lot of layers. Best play that I have seen in a long time. Never boring. Wonderful ensemble. Sarah Paulson captivate

Don’t see it if Dysfunctional family dramas are not of interest to you. This one is brutal… but the writing and acting is so good that it will be memorable.

By the end you know you've seen a new am classic, Extraord powerful play by branden jacobs-jenkins

See it if electrifying family drama full of mordant humor; brilliantly exposes legacy white appropriation of blk lives/identity; uniformly fine cast

Don’t see it if you can’t tolerate the message: the uncovering of a white family's dark secrets reveals the ugliness of America
