About Grenfell: in the words of survivors

This powerful new verbatim play, from true survivor stories of the Grenfell Tower tragedy, makes its New York debut direct from London's National Theatre.

The hundreds of residents of West London’s Grenfell Tower had their origins in the Caribbean, Portugal, Syria, Morocco, Ethiopia, Britain, and more: a thriving community of communities immediately familiar to any New Yorker. They protested loudly for years as their mismanaged public housing fell into disrepair. When the building went up in flames in 2017, there was no shock, only horror. In the end, 72 lives would be lost.

Grenfell: in the words of survivors offers a compelling investigation into the catastrophe, driven by the survivors’ stories, their heroic acts, and their impassioned struggle for justice.

Masterful, Intelligent, Great writing, Great staging, Great acting

See it if A smart, tight, informative, moving play abt a community that cared x 1 another before&after a lousy fire that killed 71ppl in London in 2017.*

Don’t see it if Three hours may be too long x some but they go fast. Also, the production looks simple because it is so perfect.

Great staging/acting/writing/directing, Emotional, Gripping, Perfect agit prop, Evocative

See it if disaster survivors telling their own story in an immersive, breaking the 4th wall, in the round, in the National Theater way appeals 2U

Don’t see it if 3 hrs of gut wrenching yet beautifully done storytelling of great loss due to indifference and lies from government and big business isnt 4U

Moving, Relevant, Strong acting, Long, Intense

See it if you like docu-plays. Chars vividly portrayed. Horrible corporate greed/bad govt vs human spirit/bravery. Call to action to save lives.

Don’t see it if you prefer light fare. Or you want succinct story-telling. Still, powerful: many lives lost. Justice still not served. Highly diverse cast.

Profound, Must see, Great staging, Great writing, Great acting

See it if You like deeply moving Documentary Theater w/ original cast from the National Theater. The ending is awesome. Run to see this powerful show

Don’t see it if You only like upbeat theater with Razzle Dazzle. You don't like drama about a Tragic Fire caused by Government and Contractor Corruption.
